Gona-Max

Description

Gona-Max is the trade name of a hormone called Human Chorionic Gonadotropin (HCG) and is produced by the pharmaceutical company Maxtreme. HCG is commonly called the pregnancy hormone because it is produced by cells in the placenta. It is prescribed to pregnant women to support the healthy growth of the uterus and fetus. In men, HCG is prescribed to help treat symptoms of hypogonadism, such as low testosterone and infertility. Therefore, it is commonly used to prevent hypogonadism and testicular atrophy from steroid use.

Effects of HCG

After about 6 weeks of steroid use, the natural production of hormones starts to be negatively affected and testicular atrophy may occur. Therefore, HCG is used during or after a steroid cycle in order to restore hormone production. The drug helps to maintain the production of important hormones such as progesterone, estrogen and testosterone. When natural testosterone production has been reduced from the use of anabolic steroids, HCG stimulates cells in the testes to produce more testosterone and sperm in order to restore production back to a normal level. This helps to avoid the side effects of steroids such as hypogonadism and infertility and also restores testicular size.

HCG administration

Maxtreme produced this drug in 3 vials that contain 5000IU of HCG in the form of a dry powder and 3 ampoules containing a liquid solution. The substances are mixed together and then injected intramuscularly. HCG only needs to be taken if the steroid cycle is longer than 6 weeks. The drug can be used during a steroid cycle in order to maintain hormone production at a normal level throughout the cycle. Alternatively, HCG can be used with other drugs after a steroid cycle during post-cycle therapy (PCT). This is a process which restores normal hormone production after it has already been decreased. When HCG is used during a steroid cycle, the dosage is from 250-500IU per week. If HCG is used during PCT, the dosage is in the range of 500-2000IU. Injections should be performed every 5 days and should last for about 3 weeks (a break of at least the same amount of time should be taken before using the drug again).

Side effects

Using HCG after a steroid cycle is less likely to cause side effects than taking it during the steroid cycle. This is why taking it during PCT is the preferred method of use. Some potential side effects include acne, pelvic pain, swelling, weight gain, diarrhea, nausea or vomiting. Although, with correct use of the drug, the risk of side effects is minimal.
